R&B is easy to find here...but you may want to branch out and try a little of the local music scene as well. brass bands-- have a beat and a jump that you will love. it's not your HS marching band kind of music. it's a bass drum and trombone and some soul and funk thrown in. may i suggest that you find out where kermit ruffins is playing (with the BBQ swingers) and get yourself in there! he is the mayor of NOLA. we only have kings at mardi gras. lastly, consider House of Blues-- cool enough that locals attend shows there (just saw aaron Neville last dec and the TIME...yeah from the 80s.. last year). as well as lots of local bands during weeknights. it's only a block or so from casino and it will be far more memorable. try at least two places: gumbo shop on st anne and soul food at chex helene or praline connection. you'll thank me. agreed that live music will blow you away.
